This one-of-a-kind opalised ammonite pendant has been handcrafted by us here at Platypus Dreaming in the luscious rainforests of Far North Queensland, Australia. Ethically sourced and fair trade. This necklace can also be adjusted to a children's size.
Ammonites are invertebrates and extinct members of the subclass Ammonoidea, class Cephalopoda, and they are millions of years old – so old in fact, that they may become opalised under the surface of the Earth. It's thought that originally these predatory, squid-like creatures would have lived inside coil-shaped shells, constantly building new shell as they grew but only living in the outer chamber. They may have travelled in schools, scooting through the water by squirting jets of water from their bodies.
Our items are created and designed in Australia in alignment with the healing frequency of the oldest rainforest on Earth.
Each necklace is handmade using the highest quality waxed cords for ultimate strength and durability. They are ideal for daily wear for active people. It has been handwoven using an ancient knot technique and is 100% vegan.
It can be adjusted to your desired length with our sturdy slide-knot clasp system. It fits both men and women.
